Based on the theory of"same treatment for different diseases",Professor LI Zhigang proposed the acupuncture method of"dredging Du meridian and awaking mind"for treating various neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease,according to their TCM pathogeneses such as kidney deficiency and marrow depletion,unsmooth Du meridian,and mental aberration and Western medicine pathogeneses such as blood-brain barrier injury,intestinal flora disorder,autophagy dysfunction,and glial cell activation.The acupuncture can be performed at Renzhong(GV26),Yintang(GV29),and Baihui(GV20)points,with the method of dredging Du meridian to achieve the miraculous effect of awaking mind.On this basis,combined with the symptoms and complications of neurodegenerative diseases,a unique acupoint combination system has been formed,with good curative effects in clinical practice.This paper summarizes Professor LI Zhigang's clinical experience in treating neurodegenerative diseases with"dredging Du meridian and awaking mind"acupuncture method,and clarify it with two attached test cases.
