Small cell lung cancer(SCLC)is a highly heterogeneous and malignant tumor.Professor LI Yueheng believes that the main pathogenesis of this disease is deficiency of both qi and yin,and the stagnation of pathogenic toxins in the lungs.It can be treated by tonifying qi and nourishing yin,transforming phlegm,dissipating blood stasis,and removing toxins.Furthermore,in clinical practice,emphasis should be placed on people-oriented theory and simultaneous physical and mental regulation.That is to give priority to healing people's heart(mind)when treating the diseases:Tonifying the lungs is the root of healing the heart(mind),and Huangqi(Astragali Radix)and Dangshen(Codonopsis Radix)are commonly used;nourishing the heart is the key to healing the heart(mind),and Baihe(Lilii Bulbus)and Hehuanhua(Albiziae Flos)are frequently used;strengthening the spleen is the foundation of healing the heart(mind),and Dangshen(Codonopsis Radix)and Jineijin(Galli Gigerii Endothelium Corneum)are often used;soothing the liver is essential for healing the heart(mind),and Chaihu(Bupleuri Radix)and Baishao(Paeoniae Radix Alba)are often used;and regulating the kidney contributes to healing the heart(mind),and Longgu(Os Draconis)and Muli(Ostreae Concha)are usually used.Professor LI also proposes using modified self-drafted Feifu Formula for staged treatment of SCLC:tonifying qi and generating blood,and cultivating the foundation of the body after surgery;nourishing qi and yin,and protecting the body's fluids during the radiotherapy;tonifying the spleen and kidney,and consolidating the prenatal and postnatal foundation during the chemotherapy;as well as eliminating blood stasis and dissipating nodules,and taking preventing measures on the location that has not been affected during the maintenance treatment.This paper summarized Professor LI Yueheng's clinical experience in treating SCLC with people-oriented theory with an attached medical case as evidence.
