On"yin fire"and treatment illustration of chronic prostatitis
The theory of"yin fire",originated from Huang Di Nei Jing(Huangdi's Internal Classic),is the pathogenic fire produced by chronic consumptive conditions due to internal dysfunctions. It was first proposed by LI Dongyuan, who thought that yin fire can cause"strangury and dysuria","red urine or painful urination",and other symptoms which are similar to the clinical manifestations of chronic prostatitis(CP).Moreover, yin fire derives from the lower jiao, the location of which is closely related to the prostate,so it is believed that the treatment of CP can be considered from the perspective of"yin fire".Specifically, the spleen and stomach deficiency, the underlying basis of yin fire formation,is the essential etiology and pathogenesis of CP,and damp heat and stagnant heat, the important cause of yin fire, are vital pathological factors of this disease. As for the treatment,in order to improve the clinical efficacy, importance should be attached to tonifying qi and raising yang to treat the spleen and stomach deficiency which is the essence of the disease;at the same time,Chinese medicines that are sweet in taste and cold in property should be used to reduce fire so as to eliminate the branch of heat;wind medicines(medicines functioning ascending and dispersing)can be applied, and various medicines should be selected according to patients'specific conditions;additionally, attention should also be paid to the emotional status of patients.
