Headache,which is very common in clinic,can occur both in the form of disease or an accompanying symptom of other diseases.In clinic,Professor CHEN Xinyu often increases the dosage of Juhua(Chrysanthemi Flos)in his formulas to utilize its functions of soothing the liver,submerging yang,and astringing.Using Juhua(Chrysanthemi Flos)in combination with Guizhi Decoction added with medicines of pungent and warm properties such as Chuanxiong(Chuanxiong Rhizoma),Baizhi(Angelicae Dahuricae Radix),and Xixin(Asari Radix et Rhizoma)can counterbalance its bitter and cold properties,which is used to treat the type of headache patients characterized by the main pathological change of the imbalance of yin and yang.It has shown remarkable therapeutic effects by employing methods including activating yang by pungent warm medicines,soothing the liver,astringing and submerging yang,and warming and tonifying yang qi.
