Malignant brain tumors are carcinomas occurring in the neural tissues of the brain.Due to their poor cell differentiation,rapid growth,and difficulty in achieving a cure,the prognosis for those tumors is often poor.PAN Minqiu,a National CM Master,believes that the pathogenesis of those diseases involves disharmony of the liver and spleen,kidney qi deficiency,and an obstruction within the brain caused by pathogenic wind combined with phlegm and static blood.They are located in the brain but closely related to the liver,spleen,and kidneys.The pathological factors primarily involve wind,phlegm,static blood,and toxins.The treatment focuses on"soothing the liver and strengthening the spleen,tonifying the kidney essence,as well as dispelling wind,resolving phlegm,and dissipating blood stasis".The key to pattern differentiation lies in distinguishing between deficiency and excess.Emphasis should be placed on employing various integrated therapies of Chinese and Western medicine according to the severity and urgency of the disease,and regulating emotional state as well.According to different patterns and their stage-specific changes,treatment methods should be focused and balanced.This paper summarizes the experience of Professor PAN in treating brain tumors,and provides a verified medical record for further illustration.
