Professor JIANG Yunwu's experience in improving the live birth rate of IVF-ET with the assistance of acupuncture
Professor JIANG Yunwu has observed over years of clinical practice that patients with recurrent failure of in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer(IVF-ET)mostly present as the spleen-kidney yang deficiency pattern. The treatment of this condition should focus on the Chong,Ren,Du,and Dai meridians, and attach attention to the spleen, kidney, and liver among the zang-fu organs. She believes that the treatment should adhere to the principle of"preventive reinforcement of deficiency",employing methods of"regulating and unblocking the Chong,Ren,Du,and Dai meridians, strengthening the spleen, tonifying the kidney, and regulating the liver,as well as educating patients on the simultaneous treatment of both mind and body."This approach aims to regulate the menstrual cycle by enhancing the innate and acquired qi,thereby nurturing and protecting the uterus.Combining acupuncture with moxibustion and integrating Chinese medicine with Western medicine,Professor JIANG's approach often achieves remarkable results. This paper summarizes her clinical experience in using acupuncture to assist the improvement of the live birth rate of IVF-ET,with the hope of sharing insights with colleagues in the field.
