Research on Forming Limits of GLARE Based on Hydro-bulging Test
Owing to their superior mechanical properties,Fiber Metal Laminates(FMLs)have garnered widespread application across various domains, emerging as a focal point in current research. To quantitatively the formability of FMLs,the hydro-bulging test under varied boundary conditions was employed.Firstly,a theoretical analysis of the stress status in the polar regions was conducted, delving into the influence of inter-layer friction on formability.Subsequently, the failure model of GLARE after the hydro-bulging test was identified and the typical Forming Limit Curve(FLC)was established by measuring the major strain and strain ratio. Finally, the finite element simulation method was used to reproduce the above test, and the results showed that the inter-layer friction significantly negatively influenced the FLC,which was consistent with the theoretical and experimental results. The derived FLC for GLARE not only assessed formability but also served as a crucial reference for optimizing process parameters.
