In order to solve the traditional problems that the data objects are defined by interface control documents, and the data objects are defined differently on different spacecraft, which is difficult to modify data during the mission and difficult to reuse data formats across missions, this paper implements a universal definition of data objects based on the data definition method in packet utilization standard(PUS)proposed by European Cooperation for Space Standardization(ECSS),and a universal data object schema is provided.Based on this method,a data definition tool is designed for users to define the data types, parameters and formats. The tool can be used a-lone or assisted by existing tools to complete the data definition work.Taking telemetry scenarios as an example, the tool is verified by combining with the XML telemetric and command exchange(XTCE)standard of the Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems(CCSDS).The results show that the universal data objects defined by the data definition method are feasible, and can be converted to standard formats on demand, facilitating the information exchange between heteroge-neous data systems.
