A Review of Wang Chuanshan's Thoughts on Meng Haoran,Wang Wei and Li Bai
Meng Haoran,Wang Wei,and Li Bai are great Tang poets who have been closely studied by scholars throughout history.Wang Chuanshan in his work Selections from Tang Poetry also pays ex-tensive attention to these three poets.Although Wang Chuanshan was a remnant of the Ming Dynasty,he did not follow the same path as other Ming scholars.A careful reading of his work reveals that he draws on his own Confucian philosophy. His goal is to establish the orthodoxy of human nature and emo-tion,and to maintain the cultural elegance that has been passed down since the"Book of Songs".
