Relations Between Grandparental Authoritarian Parenting Style and Social Ability of Rural Left-behind Young Children:Mediating Effects of Self-control
Grandparenting style has an important impact on social ability of rural left-behind young children.296 rural left-behind children(4-6 years old)were investigated by using the questionnaires to explore whether self-control played a mediating role in the relationship between grandparental authoritarian parenting style and social ability of rural left-behind young children.The results found that there was a significant negative correlation between grandparental authoritarian parenting style and self-contro land social ability of rural left-behind young children.There was a significant positive cor-relation between self-control and social ability of rural left-behind young children;Authoritarian parenting style of grand-parents significantly negatively and predicted social ability of rural left-behind young children,and self-control played a partial mediating role between the two.Grandparental authoritarian parenting style could reduce social ability of rural left-behind young children by inhibiting the self-control.In order to improve social ability of rural left-behind young children,it was suggested that kindergarten should strengthen co-education with rural grandparents,reform grandparental authori-tarian parenting style,and enhance self-control ability of rural left-behind young children.
