The modality category is an important semantic and grammatical category.Since Liao Qiuzhong's review of Palmer's Mood and Modality in 1989,the modality category has gained significant attention in Chinese linguistics and has gradually become one of the focal topics in recent years,yielding considerable research achievements.This paper summari-zes and organizes the research findings on the modality category in modern Chinese over the past decade(2013-2024),providing a review from both theoretical and expressive means perspectives,aiming to outline the research characteristics and developmental trends in this field within China during this period.
