"Three Pole Culture"and Roger T.Ames's Translation and Introduction of Chinese Philosophical Classics
"Three Pole Culture"is an idea on Chinese cultural development that was proposed by Mr.Shao Wu and distinguished Professor Huang Huilin of Beijing Normal University. This idea has produced enormous influence in the academia and has gained the attention of the scholars from abroad.Roger T.Ames,an American comparative philosopher and sinologist,is an ardent pro-ponent and advocate of this idea.Through idea elaboration,English translation of Chinese classics, and cultural communication,he has made great contribution to the reestablishment of"Three Pole Culture".He has pointed out that, the concept of"He"in the optimizing symbiosis system is the developing trend of"Three Pole Culture",and the most important contribution that Chinese culture can offer is the conception of relationally-constituted persons. His purpose of translating Chinese classics is to introduce authentic Chinese philosophy. He has tried to correct western readers'misunderstanding with interpretive context, terminology list,Chinese scholars'notes, and the collaboration between Chinese and western scholars. Moreover,he has published books, made comparison with western philosophical concepts, and conducted classroom teaching to better interpret and introduce Chinese philosophy. He has pointed out that,we should not be too anxious about the communication of Chinese culture, and should try to form a comprehensive,multi-channel and multi-dimensional communicating scheme.
