Studies on process mineralogy and leaching characteristics of ore from a gold deposit in Sudan
In order to explore the leaching characteristics of ore from a gold deposit in Sudan, process mineralogy studies were conducted, and 4 ore samples from different depth were subjected to agitation leaching, roll bottle leach-ing,and column leaching tests using environmentally friendly leaching agents. In the agitation leaching tests, the leach-ing rates of ores from different depth were above 90%and 85%respectively under ore particle sizes of P80 =75 μm and P80 =150 μm.In the roll bottle leaching tests, the leaching rate of the surface ore was above 70%under an ore particle size of P80 =4.5 mm,while the leaching rate of the deep ore was less than 50%.In the column leaching tests, the leaching rates of the surface ore were above 55%and 65%respectively under ore particle sizes of P80 =6 mm and P80 =10 mm,while the leaching rates of the deep ore were less than 40%and 30%respectively.The results indicate that the surface ore of this deposit has a feasible heap leaching potential, while the deep ore is suitable for the agitation leaching process.
