Gold mineralogical characteristics and indicative significance of maldonite in Danba Gold Deposit,Sichuan Province
Danba Gold Deposit is a typical telluride-type gold deposit located in the southeastern margin of the Songpan-Ganzi orogenic belt.A large number of visible gold and tellurium-bismuth minerals are developed in this deposit. The mineralogical characteristics of native gold were studied in detail through microscopic petrographic obser-vation and scanning electron microscopy, with pilsenite and native gold as the main research objects. The results show that the gold-bearing minerals in Danba Gold Deposit mainly include pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite, pyrite, pilsenite, native bismuth, and maldonite.A large amount of native gold has a close spatiotemporal relationship with pilsenite and native bismuth. The occurrence of maldonite is the most direct evidence of bismuth melt precipitation and gold removal.
