Comprehensive management project for historical sulfur smelting waste residues
A large amount of smelting waste residue has been left behind during mineral resource extraction and smelting processes, causing severe ecological damage due to uncontrolled disposal. To address the environmental pollution from historical smelting waste residue sites, this study takes a sulfur smelting waste residue disposal project as an example.Based on the current status of residue storage and vegetation growth, the treatment area was divided into natural restoration zones and artificial restoration zones.A comprehensive management scheme combining"risk control engineering+ecological restoration engineering"was proposed, including residue neutralization treatment, interception and seepage prevention, vegetation restoration, and land reclamation. The implementation of this plan effectively treated approximately 2.72 hm2 of exposed residue piles, restoring the ecological environment around the project area and providing a reference for similar historical mining solid waste comprehensive management projects.
