Research on the Impact of E-commerce on the Consumption Gap Between Urban and Rural Residents——Empirical Measurement Based on the Perspective of Geographical Region
This paper constructs an econometric model by extracting panel data from 2012 to 2021 to study how e-commerce impacts the consumption disparity of rural-urban divide respectively in different natural geographical regions. The results show that the development of e-commerce in China from 2012 to 2021 has widened the consumption gap between urban and rural residents. However,in the long run,in North-east China,East China and Central China,e-commerce has hindered the widening of the gap between ur-ban and rural consumption. Therefore, the government should insist on the development of e-commerce,and develop characteristic e-commerce according to local conditions,so as to bring positive role of e-com-merce into good play in the consumption gap between urban and rural residents.
