Guided by K.Reiss's text typology,an assessment of the translation quality was made by adop-ting a qualitative research method to compare and analyze the original text and the target text of Xi Jin-ping:The Governance of China at lexical,grammatical,and stylistic levels.Then the results show that Xi Jinping:The Governance of China is the informative text with both informative and operative func-tions.The version uses translation methods of recreation and free translation and translation skills of addi-tion,shift,division and omission to fully convey the relevant information about the domestic and foreign affairs of contemporary China to the readers of the target language.The translation quality is excellent.Accordingly,the research found that the translation of political publicity texts should employ the transla-tion strategy of conveying information mainly and persuading readers as a supplement,and hopes to pro-vide a reference for the current publicity translation about political materials.
