Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio is a useful marker for predicting benign and malignant of colorectal tumor
Objective:To explore the value of neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio(NLR)and platelet-to-lympho-cyte ratio(PLR)in predicting benign and malignant colorectal tumors. Methods:From January 2020 to August 2021,this study included 337 subjects with colorectal polyps and colorectal cancer who were diagnosed and treated in Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University,as well as healthy people without abnormality in gastrointestinal endoscopy, including 75 healthy subjects,78 patients with ade-nocarcinoma and 184 adenoma patients(134 tubular adenoma patients and 50 villous tubular adenoma patients). The associations between tumor type and clinicopathologic parameters were assessed by sta-tistical analysis. Results:Patients with adenocarcinomas showed significantly higher NLR and PLR than those with adenomas(P<0.001 and P<0.001,respectively),ROC curves showed that the area under the curve(AUC)values of NLR were 0.743(0.679-0.807).NLR of 2.29 is the cut-off value with a sensitivity of 65.4%and a specificity of 73.4%.Furthermore,patients with villous tubular ad-enoma showed a significantly higher NLR(P<0.05)than those with tubular adenoma. Conclusion:This study suggests that NLR could be a useful marker for predicting benign and malignant of colorec-tal cancer.
