Correlation between team psychological assessment and robotic surgery proficiency based on the NASA-TLX scale
Objective:To investigate the proficiency of NASA-TLX work load scale in the Da Vinci robotic surgical team's capacity.Methods:51 cases undergone radical prostatectomy assisted by Da Vinci sys-tem from September 27,2019 to January 19,2020 were included in this study. The operators,assis-tants and instrument nurses'mental load was evaluated by NASA-TLX scale;the installation of robot was recorded as time T1 and the console time was recorded as T2.T1 and T2 were fitted to the NASA-TLX scale.Results:T1 of assistants,T2 of operators and all the staff's mental lord progres-sively declined with the accumulation of experience. Each one in the staff reached their plateau at cer-tain case.Psychological changes reach the plateau slightly earlier than the operation time.Fitting re-sults was as follow:Installation time=-2.192+0.712Xassistant(R2=0.885,P<0.05);T1=90.653+0.7675X1(R2=0.880,P<0.05);T2=74.174+1.1281X2(R2=0.966,P<0.05);X=Total psy-chological load.Conclusion:NASA-TLX scores was consistent with other objective assessment of the team proficiency parameters such as installation time and console time on robot. The NASA-TLX scale was valuable to assess the team's mental load and proficiency and to facilitate their collaboration and improvement.
