Analysis of the expression and clinical significance of BIRC5 gene in ovarian cancer based on database mining
Objective:To screen genes related to the diagnosis, prognosis, and immune invasion of ovarian cancer by bioinformatics methods. Methods:Data sets were downloaded from the GEO database, and differential genes of ovarian cancer were screened.Core gene BIRC5 was screened through the STRING database and Cytoscape software. The relationship between the expression level of BIRC5 and prognosis,as well as the relationship between its expression and clinical characteristics of ovarian cancer patients were analyzed through GEPIA and UALCAN databases.TIMER database was used to analyze the correlation between BIRC5 and immune cell infiltration of ovarian tumors.LinkedO-mics and DAVID databases were adopted to analyze the positive correlation gene of the BIRC5 gene and KEGG pathway. Results:Eighteen core genes related to ovarian cancer were screened, including BIRC5.The expression of BIRC5 in ovarian cancer was higher than that in normal tissues(all P<0.05),and the difference in staging and lymph node metastasis was statistically significant(all P<0.05).The 5-year survival rate of patients with high BIRC5 expression was lower than that of pa-tients with low BIRC5 expression(P<0.05).BIRC5 gene was involved in the immune invasion of ovarian cancer cells.KEGG pathway shows that BIRC5 is mainly involved in the cell cycle, human T-cell leukemia virus type 1 infection, oocyte meiosis, cell senescence,p53 signal pathway, progesterone mediated oocyte maturation, extracellular matrix receptor interaction, protein digestion and absorption, and other signal pathways.Conclusion:BIRC5 is a gene related to the diagnosis and prognosis of ovarian cancer. It participates in multiple molecular regulatory pathways and can be used as a potential biomarker of ovarian cancer.
