Effects of mindfulness decompression therapy on anxiety and quality of life in outpatients with psychological erectile dysfunction
Objective:To explore the effect of mindfulness decompression therapy on anxiety and quality of life in outpatients with psychological erectile dysfunction(pED).Methods:A total of sixty pED pa-tients in the andrology department of a class A tertiary public hospital in Wuhan from January 2022 to June 2022 were recruited for the mindfulness decompression trial. They were randomly divided into the experimental and control groups, with 30 patients in each group. The control group received rou-tine treatment, while the experimental group simultaneously received 8 weeks of mindfulness decom-pression therapy and routine treatment. The Erectile Dysfunction Questionnaire(IIEF5),the Self Rat-ing Anxiety Scale(SAS),and the Concise Health Status Scale(SF-36)were used for evaluation.Re-sults:After the intervention, the IIEF5 scores,SF-36 total scores, scores of physiological function, general health status, vigor, emotional function, and mental health of the experimental group were higher than those of the control group. The SAS score was lower than that of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:Mindfulness decompression thera-py could effectively improve the self-regulation ability of patients with pED,alleviate psychological anxiety, and promote their quality of life.
