Analysis of population and disease composition of PET/CT examination in Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University from 2019 to 2023
Objective:To analyze the composition of the population and diseases examined by PET/CT in Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University,examining the actual status of PET/CT usage and providing a theoretical basis for the development of PET/CT application in our hospital.Methods:The data of PET/CT subjects from January 3,2019 to June 26,2023 in Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University were collected.A total of 2 599 patients were included in the analysis.SPSS 27.0 was used for data analysis.Results:(1)Purpose of the examination:the proportion of patients for tumor diagnosis,car-diovascular disease diagnosis,neurological disease diagnosis,bone disease diagnosis,and infections and inflammations diagnosis were 96.6%,0.6%,0.3%,0.6%,and 1.8%,respectively.There was no significant difference in the purpose of the PET/CT examination between different regions in Hubei,China(P>0.05).(2)Tumors diagnosis:the composition ratios of patients for tumor screen-ing,tumor staging,qualitative diagnosis,searching for primary foci,targeted therapy,and detecting efficacy were 51.7%,26.5%,16.2%,0.8%,0.1%,and 1.3%,respectively.(3)The top 10 ma-lignant tumors clinically diagnosed before PET/CT examination were lung cancer(23.8%),lympho-ma(16.1%),colorectal cancer(9.7%),testicular malignant tumor(7.5%),gastric cancer(6.4%),cervical cancer(4.6%),breast cancer(4.5%),cholangiocarcinoma(3.3%),thymus malignant tumor(3.3%),and liver cancer(2.8%).There was no significant difference in the distribution of clinically diagnosed malignant tumors from different regions before PET/CT examination(P>0.05).(4)The top 10 source regions of patients were Wuhan(49.9%),Huangshi(13.7%),Huanggang(10.1%),Xiangyang(4.8%),outside of Hubei Province(4.3%),county-level administrative units under the ju-risdiction of Hubei Province(4.2%),Xiaogan(2.9%),Jingzhou(2.3%),Ezhou(2.2%),and Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture(1.9%).Conclusion:PET/CT examination is of great significance in improving the accuracy,precision,and individualization of disease diagnosis and treat-ment.Hospital managers should continuously improve the accuracy of PET/CT diagnosis according to the characteristics of PET/CT examination applications,and provide more professional diagnosis and treatment services for patients.
