Relationship between postprandial hypotension and blood glucose fluctuation in elderly hypertensive patients with diabetes
Objective:To analyze the incidence of postprandial hypotension in elderly hypertensive patients with diabetes and its relationship with blood glucose fluctuation. Methods:A total of 489 elderly pa-tients with hypertension and diabetes received by Electric Power Teaching Hospital of Capital Medical University from January 2019 to July 2022 were included. The occurrence of postprandial hypotension in all patients was counted and divided into an occurrence group and a non-occurrence group. The blood glucose fluctuation index was measured to analyze the influence of postprandial hypotension on blood glucose fluctuation in elderly hypertensive patients with diabetes. Results:A total of 489 elderly patients with hypertension and diabetes were included in the study, with 281(57.46%)cases in occur-rence group, and 208(42.54%)in non-occurrence group according to the occurrence of postprandial hypotension. The mean pre-prandial systolic and diastolic blood pressure,HbA1c,and fasting blood-glucose(FBG)levels in the occurrence group were higher than those in the non-occurrence group(P<0.05).The decrease of blood glucose indices such as SDBG,LAGE,PPGE,MAGE,MBG,and postprandial systolic blood pressure in the occurrence group was higher than those in the non-oc-currence group(P<0.05).Pearson correlation confirmed that the decrease in postprandial systolic blood pressure was positively correlated with the fluctuation of blood glucose in elderly hypertensive patients with diabetes(r>0,P<0.05).Conclusion:Elderly patients with hypertension and diabetes have a higher risk of postprandial hypotension, and patients with postprandial hypotension have greater blood glucose fluctuation.
