Delirium is a syndrome characterized by acute changes in attention,consciousness,and cognitive function that are closely associated with adverse outcomes such as prolonged hospital stays and an increased risk of death.While there are numerous tools available for assessing delirium,the absence of clear criteria for selecting the appropriate ones hampers early detection by medical staff,contributing to the persistently high incidence of delirium among elderly hospitalized patients.This article reviews assessment tools for delirium in elderly hospitalized patients,aiming to enhance early prevention and detection of the condition.
