Clinical evaluation of oral methylprednone tablets on wound healing of facial atrophic acne after fractional carbon dioxide laser surgery
Objective:To observe the effect of oral methylprednone tablets on wound healing of facial atro-phic acne after fractional carbon dioxide laser surgery. Methods:The data of outpatient dermatology cases in Xijing Hospital,Xi'an,China, was retrospectively analyzed, and the postoperative wound healing process of 103 patients with atrophic acne scars treated with fractional carbon dioxide laser from January 2019 to December 2021 was analyzed. The patients were divided into the observation group(treated with methylprednone tablet orally)and control group(treated without methylprednone tablets),and the postoperative wound healing process(including postoperative edema, fluid leakage, time of scallop shedding, facial flushing time, and postoperative pigmentation duration)was recorded and compared. All patients received fractional carbon dioxide laser treatment once every 2-3 months for 3 times. The oral dose of methylprednisolone tablets was 16 mg,once a day, starting from the day after surgery for 3 consecutive days of the observation group.Goodman&Baron acne scar grading system and scoring system were adopted to grade acne scars and evaluate the curative effect. Results:There were significant differences in Goodman&Baron scores between the two groups and between pre-and post-treatment(P<0.05).After treatment, edema, fluid seepage, scab shedding and flushing fading time in the observation group were shorter than those in the control group(P<0.05),and the incidence of pigmentation was lower than that in the control group. Conclusion:Taking methylprednone tablets for a short time after an atrophic acne scar with fractional carbon dioxide laser treatment can promote wound healing and reduce skin flushing and pigmentation.
