The Operation and Evolutionary Logic of University Confucian Organizations:An Empirical Study of Power-Resource Theory Based on Discipline Development
Drawing on Clark's theory of academic power,this paper based on the fact that the develop-ment of disciplines and disciplinary organizations requires resources,selects 15 university Confucian organ-izations,adopts a multi-case analysis method,defines power and subjects of power in terms of disciplinary resources,and defines the four types of subjects of power,namely,government,institutions,teachers,and society,which holds disciplinary resources,and reveals the underlying logic that affects the develop-ment of university Confucian organizations,i.e.,there is a clear hierarchy of power between the govern-ment.There is an obvious power hierarchy between institutions and teachers.There is a correspondence between the disciplinary resources possessed by Confucian organizations and their structure-function.The power subject determines the stage of development of Confucian organizations by allocating the disciplinary resources under its control and investing disciplinary resources into Confucian organizations.
