Spatial Characteristics and Optimization Strategies of Traditional Village Alleys Based on the Landscape Gene Information Chain——A Case Study of Goulan Yaozhai in Jiangyong County
Alley spaces,as the natural growth or planned development framework of tradi-tional villages, are significant to systematically explore the landscape gene system and chara cteristics for the scientific preservation and lively utilization of such villages. This study, based on the framework of the landscape gene information chain theory and focusing on Goulan Yaozhai—a typical Yao ethnic settlement—as the case study, constructs an identification sys-tem for the landscape gene information chain of alley spaces.Through field research and in-depth interviews, the study conducts a thorough analysis of the spatial characteristics of the alleys in Goulan Yaozhai.Research indicates that terrain, landscapes, beliefs, and customs are the important landscape gene elements affecting the alleys'spatial distribution in the vil-lage.The alleys are winding and naturally diverging, with a rich and vivid selection of land-scape elements.Numerous landscape gene information points with a long history, unique ancient architectural decorations, and varied gable designs create a distinctive and diverse street facade space.Public buildings,as the main structures, showcase the concentrated cultural characteristics and living customs within the alley spaces. With a variety of referential node types, defensive architectural nodes play a crucial role in deconstructing the form of Goulan Yaozhai's alleys. The preserved landscape gene corridors, along with the closed alleys and the staggered vertical spatial organization, generate strong sensations of enclosure and oppres-sion.Based on the analysis of the landscape gene information chain of Goulan Yaozhai, the study proposes three integrated strategies:"internal repair and external exhibition,""connecting points to axes, linking axes to chains,"and"condensing the essence to create form."These strategies aim to provide references for the cultural landscape inheritance and revitalization of Yao ethnic traditional villages.
