Study on Wetland Boundary Delineation Methods——A Case Study of the East Dongtinghu International Important Wetland in Hunan Province
Scientifically delineating wetland boundaries is a primary task in wetland sur-veying,monitoring,and management. This article discusses the overall concept and technical methods for wetland boundary delineation based on multi-source data, including aerospace remote sensing imagery,Digital Line Graphs(DLG),and Digital Elevation Models(DEM).A verification study was conducted using the East Dongtinghu,an internationally important wetland in Hunan province,as an example. The results indicate that by using multi-source data and remote sensing techniques to acquire wetland delineation factors such as hydrology, vegetation, soil, and ele-vation,and by constructing wetland interpretation indicators for different types of wetlands, the efficiency of wetland boundary delineation work can be improved. The introduction of eleva-tion data such as DEM into the determination of wetland boundaries can further enhance the pre-cision of wetland boundary delineation.
