Application of Tracer Test in Groundwater Pollution Investigation of Metal Mines in Karst Areas
In order to study the application of tracer tests in groundwater pollution inves-tigation of metal mines in karst regions, two karst groundwater sites were selected for tracer experiments. The groundwater flow velocity was calculated, the influencing factors of tracer tests were analyzed, and the groundwater flow paths were identified. The results show that the average groundwater velocity in the Daye iron mine area of Huangshi prefecture is 37.2 m/h,while in the Tongshankou copper mine area of Daye city, the average groundwater velocity is 7.6 m/h.The effectiveness of tracer tests is related to the degree of karst development in the test area;the more developed the karst, the better the effect of the tracer test. The choice of fluorescein sodium as the tracer proved to be the most effective, featuring high detection sensitivity and low background values.Selecting natural sinkholes, karst depressions, karst windows, and nat-ural springs as tracer injection points yields better results than using boreholes.
