The trading of farmland index has played an important role in alleviating the con-tradiction between farmland protection and economic development.This article reviews the oper-ation of farmland index trading in Hunan province,and based on a systematic analysis of the implementation effectiveness,current framework,and practical exploration of the farmland index trading system,proposes countermeasures and suggestions to improve the production and trading system of farmland index in response to the existing problems in the implementation of farmland index trading in Hunan province.By combining market mechanisms with government inter-vention,we aim to explore the construction of a market mechanism for the entire process of bal-ancing the occupation and compensation of farmland,providing useful references for the scien-tific,rational,and orderly implementation of the work of balancing the occupation and compen-sation of farmland.
