Responses of Different Varieties of Peanut Seedlings to Drought and Waterlogging
Eight varieties of peanut, which have differences in drought tolerance and waterlogging tolerance, were used as experimental materials. The drought and waterlogging treatments were respectively conducted to peanuts at seedling stage in order to discuss the responses of different varieties of peanut seedlings to drought stress and waterlogging stress. The results showed that the responses of different organs to drought and waterlogging were different, in which dry matters in leaves or aerial part had high degree of synchronization or consistency to drought and waterlogging, they may have some common mechanism to drought tolerance and waterlogging tolerance, and followed by dry matters in root and stem and ratio of root to shoot, whereas the responses of plant height and leaf length to drought and waterlogging were inconsistent or asynchronous; different varieties showed different responses to drought and waterlogging, in which Xianghua 2008 had the highest tolerance to drought and waterlogging, and followed by W2-15. On the whole, drought will promote the growth of roots and lead plants dwarf and strong, waterlogging will suppress the growth of roots and lead plants leggy.
