Effects of Urea Fertilizer Rates on Agronomic Traits and Yield of New Sugarcane Variety Guifu 98-296
This study was to determine how different urea fertilizer concentrations at elongation stage would affect agronomic traits and yield of new sugarcane variety Guifu 98-296.The results showed that the tiller rate of Guifu 98-296 was different because of urea fertilizer rates, but the difference was not remarkable;the plant height, stem diameter and effective stem per hm2 respectively increased first and then decreased as urea fertilizer application rates rose, the plant height and stem diameter reached the maximum at urea fertilizer rate of 150 kg/hm2,and the effective stem number reached the maximum at the rate of 300 kg/hm2;and the stem yield and sugar content respectively increased first and then decreased as urea fertilizer application rates rose, and reached the maximum at the rate of 300 kg/hm2,but the difference was not significant. So in production, the conventional fertilizer application rate would be enough without needing the additional application of more urea at the expense of more work and more fertilizer so as not to increase production costs and environmental pollution.
