The Attribution of the Slate Red Soil in Chinese Soil Taxonomy in Eastern Hunan
To study the attribution of the slate red soil in Chinese Soil Taxonomy in eastern Hunan, we selected 7 typical red soil profile developed from slate in this area, according to the Chinese Soil Taxonomy, we retrieved out the diagnostic horizon and diagnostic characteristics, and determined its attribution based on the study on the soil forming environment, the morphological characteristics and the physical and chemical properties. The result shows that the location of the soil profiles are belong to 4 orders such as Argosols, Cambosols, Ferrosols and Primosols; 4 suborders like Udic Argosols, Udic Cambosols, Udic Ferrosols and Orthic Primosols; 5 groups as Acidi-Udic Argosols, Ali-Udic Argosols, Ali-Udic Cambosols, Argic-Udic Ferrosols and Usti-Orthic Primosols; and 5 subgroups as Typic Acidi-Udic Argosols, Typic Ali-Udic Argosols, Typic Ali-Udic Cambosols, Typic Argic-Udic Ferrosols and Lithic Usti-Orthic Primosols. In addition, according to the classification standards for soil family and soil series, 6 soil families as Clayey loamy silica mixture acidic thermic-Typic Acidic-Udic Argosols, and 7 soil series as Gaoshen series (43-CS16) are established.
