Determination of Residual Bifenthrin in Moist Soil by HPLC
To improve the efficiency of evaluating the quality of chemical barriers for termite control in buildings, bifenthrin suspensions at varying dosages were sprayed in the foundation pits of five construction sites in Changsha City,China. The residual bifenthrin in naturally air-dried soil samples and moist soil samples were compared. The results showed that the retention times of bifenthrin peaks were consistent across moist and naturally air-dried soil samples. The levels of residual bifenthrin derived from extraction and calculation using both samples were closely matched, with mean errors of less than 3%and insignificant difference between moist and dry samples. Therefore, the direct extraction and calculation using moist soil samples, without the need for natural air-drying,is suitable for detecting bifenthrin residues in soil.
