Pruning,Root Cutting, and Matrix Improvement Influence Leaf SPAD of Bougainvillea glabra
This study aims to provide references for the plant renewal and rejuvenation of Bougainvillea glabra on pedestrian overpasses. An orthogonal array was adopted to study the effects of pruning, root cutting, and matrix improvement on the leaf SPAD of B.glabra which had been used for landscaping for 10 years on pedestrian overpasses. The results showed that the leaf SPAD in different groups ranged from 46.4 to 55.5,with significant differences among groups 30,73,and 120 days after treatment. The pruning intensity exerted signifiant effect on SPAD,which was higher in the light pruning group than in the moderate and heavy pruning groups 73 and 120 days after treatment.Neither root cutting nor matrix improvement increased the leaf SPAD of B.glabra.
