Fermented Wuzi Yanzong Prescription Affects Serum Biochemical Indexes and Cecal Microflora of Roman Laying Hens at the Late Laying Stage
The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of fermented Wuzi Yanzong prescription on the serum biochemical indexes and cecal microflora of Roman laying hens at the late laying stage.Roman laying hens were allocated into 5 groups. The control group was fed with the basal diet, while those in other groups received the basal diet supplemented with 0.50%unfermented Wuzi Yanzong prescription and 0.25%,0.50%,and 0.75%fermented Wuzi Yanzong prescription, respectively. The results indicated that compared with the control group, supplementing 0.25%fermented Wuzi Yanzong prescription elevated the serum levels of globulin and total protein, which surpassed those in the group supplemented with 0.50%unfermented Wuzi Yanzong prescription.Supplementing 0.25%and 0.50%fermented Wuzi Yanzong prescription lowered the serum levels of low-density lipoprotein, urea nitrogen, and creatinine.Supplementing 0.75%fermented Wuzi Yanzong prescription lowered the serum levels of low-density lipoprotein, urea nitrogen,glutamic-pyruvic transaminase, total bilirubin, and direct bilirubin.Furthermore, supplementing 0.25%,0.50%,and 0.75%fermented Wuzi Yanzong prescription decreased the relative abundance of Prevotellaceae_UCG_001,unclassified_Lachnospiraceae,and unclassified_Bacteroidales,respectively,in cecal microflora. In conclusion, this study suggests that supplementing 0.25%and 0.50%fermented Wuzi Yanzong prescription in the diet of laying hens can enhance the liver and kidney functions and improve the cecal microflora.
