Screening of Chinese Rose Germplasm Accessions Resistant to Powdery Mildew and Main Ornamental Traits of Accessions with High Resistance
This study aims to screen the Chinese rose germplasm accessions resistant to powdery mildew and reveal the main ornamental traits of the accessions with high resistance. The resistance of 194 Chinese rose germplasm accessions to powdery mildew in the field and the main ornamental traits were observed. The identification results showed that the 194 germplasm accessions included 64(33.0%)accessions with resistance and 130(67.0%)accessions with susceptibility.Among the accessions with resistance,15,12,and 37 accessions showed high resistance, resistance, and moderate resistance, respectively.Among the accessions with susceptibility,52 accessions were susceptible and 78 accessions were highly susceptible. In terms of main ornamental traits, the 15 germplasm accessions showed different plant types, including 4 accessions of HT type,5 accessions of F type,3 accessions of S type,1 accession of Min type,1 accession of CL type, and 1 accession of R type. The thorns were mostly straight or slanted, with varying sizes and densities. The leaves were mainly oval, light green, flat and less wrinkled. The number of petals was the highest in'Qiubite'(153)and the lowest in'Jinmali'(15).The thickness of petals varied, and the flower diameters varied within the range of 2-16 cm.The flowers of varieties except'Kongquekaiping','Guizuliguang',and'Suxing'had a light or strong fragrance.'Liyatutu'had the largest branching diameter(100 cm),while'Suxing'had the smallest branching diameter(36 cm).The number of branches was the highest in'Xiandaiyishu'(47)and the lowest in'Suxing'(5).The top leaf was the longest in'Xilazhixiang'(6.53 cm)and the shortest in'Kongquekaiping'(2.56 cm),and it was the widest in'Jinxiangyu'(4.28 cm)and the narrowest in'Kongquekaiping'(1.39 cm).
