Taking Symplocos tetragona young trees in the rocky desertification slope as the research object, the environmental response of young trees in the process of ecological restoration of rocky desertification slope was explored using Pearson correlation analysis, redundancy analysis, variation analysis and other research methods,in order to provide a theoretical basis for scientific planting, tending and management of S.tetragona in the rocky desertification area. The results showed that:(1)The results of Pearson correlation analysis and redundancy analysis showed that altitude, slope, slope position and soil thickness were important environmental factors affecting the growth of young trees of S.tetragona.(2)The physical and chemical properties of soil could be changed through substrate covering and exotic soil, the soil porosity could be increased, the soil bulk density could be reduced, and then the vegetation growth could be promoted, and the efficiency of ecological restoration could be improved.(3)Topographic factors had a weak influence on the distribution of soil factors, and the improvement of soil fertility ismainly due to the improvement of combined mulching methods such as substrate soil, substrate mulching and straw mixed mulching.
