Analysis on breeding characters of Pinus taeda in early stage of seed orchard
In this study, the quantity of flowers of Pinus taeda seed orchard with high resin yield in Xianshui forestry farm in Quanzhou County was investigated, and the distribution of reproductive resources of the clones in the orchard was analyzed, which provided a reference for the judgment of the start-up time and the management of the mating system of the seed orchard. The results showed that 70%of clones had entered the breeding period, and the male reproductive resources of Pinus taeda were more than the female reproductive resources. There was a positive correlation between the number of development of male and female cones.Among the flowering clones, the proportion of clones with male and female reproductive resource allocation was 20.41%and 30.61%,respectively.There were two asexual lines with extremely male reproductive resource allocation and one asexual line with extremely female reproductive resource allocation in the seed orchard,as well as two reproductive advantage asexual lines. In addition, the reproductive capacity of male and female can be improved by the development of more male and female bulbs in individual branch or as a whole. In the early stage of the seed orchard, there were obvious male and female reproductive dominant clones, which had important effects on the mating system of the seed orchard.
