Bird community composition and its seasonal variation in urban park:A case study of Hunan Botanical Garden
The characteristics and diversity of bird communities are of great significance to the study of urban biodiversity. In order to explore the community characteristics and seasonal variation of biodiversity in urban parks, birds in Hunan Botanical Garden were investigated from February 2022 to January 2023 by using line transect method. The results showed:(1)A total of 68 species of 1 849 birds were recorded, belonging to 30 families and 7 orders, including 3 species of national Class Ⅱ protected birds. In the community, the birds mainly belonged to Passeriformes, and the resident birds were the majority. The widespread species of birds accounted for 75.00%,and the main feeding habits of birds were carnivorous and omnivorous. The dominant species throughout the year were Pycnonotus sinensis and Spodiopsar sericeus.(2)The seasonal variation of bird community was significant. The number of bird individuals in March,April,November and December accounted for 53.87%of the total number of birds in the whole year. The number of bird species was the highest in June, accounting for 50.00%of the total number of bird species.(3)The species diversity index of bird community was 2.32 to 2.93,the dominance index was 0.87 to 0.99,the richness index was 3.50 to 6.27,and the evenness index was 0.69 to 0.91.(4)There were significant or extremely significant correlations between species diversity, dominance, richness of bird community and species diversity, dominance, richness of plant community. This study provided an important theoretical support for the planning and construction of diverse landscape structures in urban parks to enrich the habitat of birds and improve the diversity of birds. The research results have good guiding significance for the construction of diverse landscape structures in urban parks to increase bird habitats and diversity.
