Research on the Construction of Royal Tombs at Pingcheng and Economic Development in the Northern Wei Dynasty
In the past half century,scholars have successively discovered several royal tombs of the Northern Wei Dynasty,such as the tomb of Emperor Huan where he and his empress Qi were buried together,and the Fangshan Yonggu Mausoleum of Empress Dowager Feng.As a result of the integration of Xianbei customs and Central Plains burial culture,the mausoleum culture of Tuoba Xianbei nationality developed from"secret bury and fake funeral ceremony"to"the combination of the mausoleum and temple"with a unique mausoleum culture of Northern Wei Dynasty where the royal tombs were on the top of the mountain,tomb keepers were assigned and a county was set up to guard the royal tombs.However,the current studies have not systematically revealed the royal tombs in Pingcheng of the Northern Wei Dynasty.Based on the new breakthroughs in its literature study and field archaeological investigations,this paper clarifies for the first time the location,scope,geographical environment and the dragon veins of the royal tombs in Pingcheng in the Northern Wei Dynasty.In particular,it provides a comprehensive and systematic explanation of Yunzhong Jin Mausoleum,Jin Mausoleum and Shengle Jin Mausoleum in the Northern Wei Dynasty.At the same time,it discusses the relationship between the construction of royal tombs in Pingcheng and the economic development in the Northern Wei Dynasty.This fills the gap in the study of the Northern Dynasty history,and will have a huge impact on the study of the Northern Dynasty history.
