With the spreading of Marxism and Leninism in China,China's literary creation underwent a shift from"literary revolution"to"revolutionary literature".The theories and creative ideas of the Left Alliance,such as the popularization of literature and art,and the socialist realism of literature and art,had a great impact on the leftist drama theory in the 1930s.With the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japan in 1931,"resistance"became the theme of the times,and"salvation"quelled the debate between old and new dramas."Literature and art are the horn of the times",which had become a consensus.In this context,the advocacy of the Left Alliance emerged in the form of"national defense drama"and"modernization of old dramas",encouraging the theatrical industry to actively participate in the national salvation movement.So the function and value of drama were understood in a new way.
