The writings on the legend of jade seals were unprecedentedly reinforced during the Sixteen Kingdoms period.Jade Seal was a defining object proclaiming the legitimacy and orthodoxy of the Central Plains dynasties.The regimes of the Sixteen Kingdoms had the various jade seals gained by them publicized through a series of efforts to legitimize their regimes,and simultaneously create conditions for various political activities through the legends of the Jade Seals.The writings on the legends of the jade seals during the Sixteen Kingdoms period and and those of historians in subsequent generations have preserved a relatively complete narrative of the struggle for the imperial Jade Seal and the changing process of various jade seal legends.The extensive circulation of jade seal legends during the Sixteen Kingdoms period further enriched the content of the legends of jade seals and had a profound impact on the changing patterns of writings on the legends and the political situations in that time.
