Potential Categories of Health Literacy in Patients with Primary Hypertension and Its Impact on Quality of Life
To explore the potential categories of health literacy in patients with primary hypertension and its impact on quality of life,217 hospitalized patients with first-time confirmed hypertension who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria in the cardiology department of a tertiary a hospital were selected by convenience sampling method from November 2021 to February 2023.The general information questionnaire,Chinese version of the Hypertension Health Literacy Scale,and Traditional Chinese Medicine Hypertension Scale were used to investigate the health literacy and quality of life of the patients,and latent profile analysis and univariate analysis were used for data processing.There were three categories of patients'health literacy through latent profile analysis:the health literacy deficiency group(61.1%),the moderate health literacy group(31.6%),and the health literacy sufficiency group(7.3%).There were statistical significant differences among different categories in terms of age,family monthly income,education level,comorbidities,and blood pressure grading(P<0.05);There were differences in the categories of patient health literacy and quality of life scores.Most patients with primary hypertension have moderate to low levels of health literacy,and there was group heterogeneity in their health literacy levels.Nurses should develop personalized intervention measures based on the actual situation of patients to improve their health literacy and quality of life.
