A Study of the National Salvation Singing Movement in Jiaxing During the War of Resistance Against Japan
During the War of Resistance against Japan,Jiaxing was one of the earliest regions to be occupied by Japan in Zhejiang Province and one of the regions most tightly controlled by the Japanese puppet regime.Under the pressure of the brutal"Three All"(Burn all,Kill all and Loot all)Policy and"Clearing-up-country Campaign"of the Japanese aggressors,the people of Jiaxing persisted in their resistance.A large number of zealous youth and patriotic teachers and students,under the leadership of the underground organization of the Communist Party of China,carried out a series of anti-Japanese national salvation movements,including the national salvation singing movement against Japanese aggression.This paper reviews and summarizes the development of the anti-Japanese national salvation singing movement in Jiaxing from the"September 18th Incident"in 1931 to the end of the War of Resistance Against Japan in 1945,including the establishment of singing groups and the conduct of singing activities,providing a basis for the compilation and study of the history of the national salvation singing movement against Japanese aggression in Zhejiang and beyond.
