Preparation and performance of sodium alginate-hydroxyethyl cellulose biodegradable composite film
To prepare SA(sodium alginate)biodegradable composite film with excellent performance,a series of biodegradable composite films with different mass ratios of SA to HEC(hydroxyethyl cellulose)were prepared by casting method.HEC was used as reinforcing component. Then the composite filins were cross-linked using Ca2+,and degradation experiments were carried out by soil burial method. The performance such as composition structure and mechanical properties were tested and characterized by FTIR,SEM,TGA and UV/VIS/NIR.The results show that the characteristics of the SA film, which is brittle and prone to wrinkling, are greatly improved by the addition of HEC.The composite film has excellent mechanical properties, good toughness and transparency as well as significantly improved heat and hydrophobic properties. The optimum experimental conditions are determined. When the mass ratio of SA to HEC is 4:1,the tensile breaking strength of the film is 64.6 MPa,the elongation at break is 3.62%,the water contact angle is 63.3°,the oxygen transmission is(2.54±0.056)cm3/(cm2·d· MPa),the visible light transmission is 33.3%-52.9%,and it has excellent degradability. Therefore, the SA composite film prepared with HEC as the reinforcing component has excellent mechanical and degradation properties and can be used in the food packaging field.
