Optimization of mass exchanger network using unit activity strengthening strategy
In the later stages of mass exchanger network optimization, the structure tends to solidify and the generation of new units becomes limited, leading to difficulties in achieving structural variation and global optimization. Therefore, the cause of structural solidification was first explored and a unit activity strengthening strategy was proposed.During the optimization process, individuals status were monitored in real-time.If a mass exchanger exceeds a certain threshold,it is randomly selected with a certain probability and divided into multiple units. This enhances the new unit activity and the individual structural variation capacity, improving the global search performance of the algorithm. The improved strategy was applied to two examples of phenol removal and ammonia removal. The total annual cost of the obtained structures is 129 200 and 336 148 dollars/a,respectively,both superior to the current literature. The results show that the unit activity strengthening strategy effectively promotes the optimization of the structure and improves the optimization quality.
