Research progress in remediation of petroleum contaminated soil and strengthening of surfactants
Petroleum-contaminated soil is a major hazard to the ecological environment and human health.Physical, biological and chemical remediation techniques are commonly used to treat petroleum-contaminated soil, but the effect of remediation is limited by the adsorption of petroleum pollutants in the soil.Surfactants can promote the desorption and migration of hydrophobic organic pollutants adsorbed in soil and play an increasingly important role in the remediation of petroleum contaminated soil. This paper introduced the current research status, advantages and disadvantages of physical, biological and chemical remediation as technologies. The classification and mechanism of action of surfactants were described. The research progress on the joint application of surfactant with electroremediation, bioremediation and chemical oxidative remediation was reviewed. The limiting factors and environmental risks of the application of surfactants were briefly introduced.
