Preparation and performance evaluation of terpolymer viscosity increasing and fluid loss reducing agent
Using acrylamide, acrylic acid, and 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid as monomers, and potassium persulfate/sodium bisulfite as initiators,a terpolymer viscosity-increasing filtrate reducer was prepared through aqueous solution polymerization. The effects of solution pH,monomer ratio, reaction temperature and initiator dosage on the intrinsic viscosity of the terpolymer were analyzed through single-factor experiments. The optimum preparation conditions were determined as follows:the pH value of 8,reaction temperature of 35℃,monomer ratio m(AM)∶m(AA)∶m(AMPS)of 65∶10∶25 and initiator dosage of 0.010%,the resulting product intrinsic viscosity was 7.8dL·g-1.The performance evaluation results demonstrate that the prepared terpolymer exhibits temperature resistance up to 180℃.When 0.5%,1.0%and 1.5%of the terpolymers were added to fresh water-based pulp, salt water-based pulp, and composite salt water-based pulp, respectively, the apparent viscosity retention rates after high-temperature aging reached 71.4%,62.5%and 52.0%,respectively.Additionally,the filtration loss was less than 10.0 mL,indicating excellent viscosity increase and filtration loss reduction as well as temperature-resistant,salt-resistant and calcium-resistant properties.
