Preparation and performance evaluation of lubricant for water-based drilling fluid
In view of the poor adsorption and anti-wear properties of existing drilling fluid lubricants,a strong adsorption and anti-shear lubricant(HR-1)was prepared with polyols and polycarboxylic acids as raw materials in this paper. The lubrication anti-wear properties were evaluated by extreme pressure lubrication instrument and four-ball friction testing machine, and the lubrication mechanism was explored by scanning electron microscopy and energy spectrum. The results showed that HR-1 significantly improved the lubrication and anti-wear properties of bentonite-based slurry, which was superior to BLOE.In addition,HR-1 increased the content of C element and decreases the content of Na and O elements on the surface of the steel ball, which indicated that the addition of HR-1 made the lubricant molecules replace the sodium bentonite originally adsorbed on the surface of the steel ball, and reduced the formation of friction corrosion products(iron oxide),played a role of lubrication and anti-wear,and achieved the purpose of protecting the metal.
